WHO IS PETER?
In my early twenties, I started learning Mandarin Chinese with a clear goal in mind: to build a career in mainland China, Taiwan and Singapore. That journey led me to not only study Mandarin Chinese in Beijing and Taipei, but also to live and work in Shanghai and Taipei, frequently traveling to Singapore for cross-cultural business opportunities. Along the way, I developed a deep appreciation for Chinese culture and cross-cultural communication inspiring a desire to share this understanding broadly. My childhood in Jamaica and the Netherlands Antilles further shaped my global perspective. Beyond my professional pursuits, I’m passionate about the efficient use of energy and enjoy running with my friends.
Peter’s Perspective is my independent publishing company, dedicated to sharing fact-based insights on Mandarin Chinese language, Chinese-speaking societies in mainland China, Taiwan and Singapore and cross-cultural communication. Through my debut book, I aim to inspire better cross-cultural understanding, offering readers a deeper look into these societies. My goal is to help individuals make informed, long-term decisions by bridging cultural gaps. Curious what’s shaping China, Taiwan, and Singapore right now? WEST MEETS EAST
West Meets East, my debut book, delves into the connections and differences between Chinese-speaking societies and Western ones. I hope the book will contribute to improving mutual understanding because I believe that only through cooperation and understanding can we tackle the pressing challenges of our time.
‘Gill’s book is a welcome read amidst the ocean of sombre and pessimistic publications about our relationship with China.’ – Lilian Kranenburg
